Job Description
Company Overview
Founded in 2006, Medical Office Brokers (MOB) is a boutique commercial real estate firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. MOB’s mission is to come alongside healthcare stakeholders as their advocates in commercial real estate. Located in a historic mid century modern building of east Phoenix, we are a group of collaborative, hard working professionals that need the support of a competent, aligned, accounting professional.
Job Summary
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and supporting basic financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone with bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate or property management, who thrives in a small, independent team setting.
Key Responsibilities
Record daily financial transactions, including income from rents, commissions, or property sales, and expenses such as maintenance, utilities, and vendor payments.
Manage accounts payable: Process and code invoices, issue payments (checks, online, or credit card), and reconcile vendor statements.
Manage accounts receivable: Produce invoices, track rent collections, tenant deposits, and other income; follow up on overdue payments as needed.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Maintain general ledger entries and categorize transactions appropriately (e.g., by property if managing multiple assets).
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing basic financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet).
Handle escrow accounts, mortgage payments, and property tax reconciliations where applicable.
Process payroll for a small team if required.
Ensure compliance with basic financial regulations and prepare documentation for tax purposes (in collaboration with an accountant).
Use accounting software to generate reports and support decision-making.
Qualifications and Requirements
2+ years of bookkeeping experience; experience in real estate, property management, or rental properties is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (Online or Desktop), or similar tools (e.g., Deal Cafe, Yardi, AppFolio).
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits/credits and general ledger management.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) is a plus.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Strong communication skills for collaborating with owners, vendors, and tenants.
If this sounds like a fit for you, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience. We look forward to hearing from you!
