In-Home CNA Caregiver for Elderly Stroke Survivor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced caregiver to provide personalized in-home care for an elderly female stroke survivor in Branford, CT. The patient has aphasia, right-side paralysis, and uses a wheelchair, requiring a caregiver who is patient, attentive, and experienced in safe mobility assistance and supportive communication.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and multiple brief changes.
• Provide safe wheelchair assistance and transfers, including bed, and chair transfers
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding as needed, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration
• Administer medications as directed (per state guidelines)
• Monitor health status and report any changes to family
• Assist with prescribed exercises or physical therapy routines, if applicable
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Perform light housekeeping related to patient care (laundry, tidying patient areas)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment

Qualifications:
• Experience caring for elderly stroke survivors, including individuals with paralysis
• Familiarity with wheelchair care, safe transfers, and fall-prevention techniques
• Experience supporting individuals with aphasia preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification
• CNA or HHA certification preferred
• Patient, reliable, and compassionate demeanor
• Ability to pass background check and provide references

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to assist with transfers, and repositioning
• Ability to stand, walk, bend

Schedule:
• Tues-Thurs: 8:00 am-7:30pm with a 1.5 hr. break from 2:00-3:30 pm.
