Full-Time Housekeeper

We are a historic spiritual center and event venue in Chicago looking for a dependable, detail-oriented housekeeper to keep our beautiful 1920s building clean, orderly, and ready for daily classes, services, and special events.

What You’ll Do:

• Thorough daily cleaning of all areas: event halls, classrooms, restrooms, kitchen, dining room, offices, hallways, and stairways

• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, clean windows, sanitize surfaces

• Set up and take down lightweight chairs/tables for events

• Restock restroom and cleaning supplies; light laundry of linens and towels

• Follow easy digital checklists on a phone or tablet

• Report any maintenance needs

Schedule:

• Typical shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Occasional evening or weekend event support (scheduled in advance, with comp time during the week)

• Two consecutive days off per week

Requirements:

• At least 1 year of professional cleaning experience (hotel, school, office, religious facility, etc.)

• Strong attention to detail and pride in your work

• Physically able to lift 30 lbs, climb stairs, and stand/walk most of the day

• Reliable transportation to the temple (near public transit)

• Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for daily task lists

• Basic English reading and speaking

Compensation & Benefits:

• $19–$22 per hour (paid bi-weekly)

• Paid Time Off & Holidays (very generous schedule – everyone is off):

• 11 standard paid holidays (including Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas and Easter week etc.)

• Full building closures with pay:

• Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day (Dec 24 – Jan 1, ~10 days)

• Good Friday through Easter Monday

• July 1–7 (annual facility closure)

• 10 additional paid personal/sick days per year

• Paid 15-minute breaks twice daily + 30-minute unpaid lunch
