Job Description
Established downtown San Jose law firm seeks a full-time Legal Assistant to support three litigation attorneys. The ideal candidate is professional, personable, detail-oriented, and interested in a long-term career within a collaborative and supportive environment. Prior legal experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate is required.
Position Overview
This role provides direct support in probate, trust, conservatorship/guardianship, and civil litigation matters. The position requires the ability to manage multiple responsibilities with competing and evolving deadlines, including assistance with discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
● Demonstrated legal experience in trust and estate administration and litigation, including drafting, case management, and trial support.
● Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint.
● Excellent written communication skills.
● Ability to proactively maintain calendars, diaries, and tickler systems, including scheduling meetings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
● Professional and effective communication with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other involved parties.
● Experience with e-filing in California state courts.
● Interest in ongoing professional development and willingness to learn and utilize new technologies and office systems.
● Team-oriented attitude with a positive, solution-focused approach.
