Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Mechanic to oversee daily operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and repair. This role is essential for maintaining the level of excellence at a shop with over 50 years in the business, and guiding a team of technicians to be sure the job is done right the first time. The Lead Mechanic will play a pivotal role in diagnosing complex mechanical issues, effectively scheduling jobs to be done and, we hope, to become a "member of the family" for a long time to come.

Duties

* Lead and supervise a team of motivated mechanics to ensure timely and effective repairs
* Perform detailed diagnostics using tools to identify electrical faults and mechanical failures
* Troubleshoot complex systems on a wide variety of makes and models.
* Oversee repair projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards
* Maintain accurate service records, work orders and scheduling of jobs
* The ability to practice effective communication with co-workers and customers
* Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices, safety procedures, and technical skills
* Collaborate with operations management to maximize production and efficiency
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime

Experience

* Proven experience as a mechanic with a strong background in diagnosis and repairs of all systems found on today's cars and trucks
* Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervisory or lead roles preferred
* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and advanced safety features that are found on all makes and models
* Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams etc. effectively
* Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges
* Relevant certifications or technical training in the automotive industry are a plus
