Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR & Office Assistant to support the
administrative and human resource functions of our high-volume lumber mill operation. As
part of a large-scale team committed to continuous improvement and employee
development, this role will play a key part in supporting our workforce and maintaining
smooth day-to-day office operations.

Qualifications:

1) Communication:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting positively with all people inside and outside our organization
• Ability to identify and address challenges and problem solve
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive attitude

2) Organizational Skills:
• Effectively manage a high volume of incoming tasks by prioritizing responsibilities, sequencing work strategically, and adapting quickly to shifting demands while maintaining accuracy and quality
• Ability to maintain an organized system of records management
• Show enthusiasm for learning and improving systems
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a team member
• Strong attention to detail is a must, to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly

3) Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3+ years’ experience in an Administrative or Human Resources Support role
• Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Extensive knowledge of computer software and applications, and the ability to leverage them to enhance company systems and processes
• Related industry or sawmill experience preferred
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities:

Human Resources:
• Support recruiting efforts by coordinating job postings, managing applications, and scheduling interviews and pre-employment screenings
• Assemble employee onboarding packets, benefits orientation packets, and accident/injury reporting packets
• Maintain and update employee records and personnel files
• Help organize internal training sessions and employee engagement activities
• Prepare and distribute employee notifications
• Pick up payroll from Eureka office and prepare for distribution
• Uphold confidentiality and compliance with Federal, State, and company policies
• Work with HR & Safety Coordinator on larger projects aimed at creating better support for our Team Leaders and Employees
• Other support tasks as needed

Office Administration:
• Greet visitors, answer phones, and direct inquiries to the appropriate departments
• Maintain office supplies inventory and re-order as needed
• Support meeting logistics, including room booking, scheduling, and catering
• Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
• Assist with document filing, data entry, and administrative reports
• Coordinate with vendors, facility services, and building management as required
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment: tidy up break area, restock coffee supplies, organize closet, shed, and supplies cabinets
• Learn Accounts Payable process and serve as backup support

Benefits and Compensation:
•Compensation $22.00 - $26.00/hour; depending on experience
