Job Description

Cabinet Designer (Part‑Time to Full‑Time) – Fine Design Carpentry
Fine Design Carpentry is a custom cabinetry and woodworking shop in Colorado Springs focused on craftsmanship, precision, and a smooth client experience. We’re looking for a detail‑oriented Cabinet Designer who’s excited to work in a real‑world design/build environment and grow with our team. This role starts part‑time with the potential to move into full‑time as responsibilities expand.

About the Role:
You’ll support our design and production workflow by creating cabinet layouts, technical drawings, and machine‑ready files. You’ll work closely with our owners and shop team to translate client needs into accurate, buildable designs. For the right person, this role can also include sales and lead‑generation opportunities with commission.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce cabinet designs, shop drawings, and renderings using Mozaik and SketchUp
- Prepare cut lists, CNC files, and machine‑ready outputs
- Link design files to shop equipment including our Razorgage and CNC machines
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure accuracy and buildability
- Assist with client communication, revisions, and project coordination
- Optional (but preferred): support sales outreach and lead generation for additional commission

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience with Mozaik, SketchUp, or similar CAD/design software (coursework is welcome)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cabinetry standards
- Comfort working in a shop environment and learning how design impacts fabrication
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn
- Interest in growing into a larger role over time
- Bonus: curiosity about sales, client interaction, or business development

Why Join Us:
- Flexible part‑time schedule with a path to full‑time *flexible*
- Paid training and mentorship in cabinetry design and CNC workflows
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience, including paid holidays and yearly bonuses
- Commission opportunities for any projects you help bring in
- A supportive, craftsmanship‑driven environment where your work directly impacts real builds

If you’re a design‑minded problem solver who wants hands‑on experience in a professional shop, we’d love to talk! Please email your resume, any references or additional work portfolios.
